Mac and the Dragon (Dragon NaturallySpeaking that is).

Courtesy of the ABA Legal Technology Resource Center comes word that Nuance, the maker of Dragon NaturallySpeaking speech recognition software for the PC, has licensed its product to MacSpeech  who is bringing it to the Mac. According to the ABA's Site-tation newsletter in its article found on this page:

MacSpeech, developer of the popular Mac voice recognition software iListen, licensed Dragon NaturallySpeaking from its Windows developer Nuance Communications and ported it over to the Mac. NaturallySpeaking is the top selling Windows speech recognition software and by far the most popular voice recognition software in use by respondents to the 2007 ABA Legal Technology Resource Center Technology Survey.

MacSpeech will be selling the Mac version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking for $199, but registered users of iListen can get it for $99 (or just $29 if they purchased iListen in 2008).

Fee, Fi, Fo, Fum - Why Lawyers Should Read Blogs

My friend Bonnie Shucha, author of WisBlawg and Head of Reference for the UW Law Library, has an article on fellow law librarian and blogger Bev Butula and a story that Bev penned regarding the usefulness of blogs to legal professionals with the title of Bella is Bewildered About Blogs.

While the story reads like a children’s tale, it is a quick and fun read on why lawyers should be paying attention to blogs for current and relevant information.
