The first day of the 2011 Wisconsin Solo & Small Firm Conference is done and it was a huge success! Day 1 started with a session on legal research with Fastcase and information on the new Wisbar MarketPlace and Books UnBound. PINNACLE, the State Bar of Wisconsin's CLE Department announced that all attendees of the WSSFC would receive a month of free access to Books UnBound starting November 1, 2011. Karin Iwata (E-Myth Worldwide) was the Pre-Conference speaker on "Building a Prototype for Your Law Office: Work ON Your Practice, Not Just IN It". Karin had the audience working in small groups and working on exercises to help them build their practices.
At 12:45 PM Judy A. Meyer (Dale Carnegie Training) kicked off the conference with her high energy presentation on "The Power of Self" After a vendor break, sessions in the Substantive, Practice Management, Technology and Quality of Life/Ethics tracks took over. Michale Moore of Moore's Law talked about "Managing Your Time: Get More Done in Less Time" while other attendees attended sessions including "Creating Legal Forms and Templates". With the changes in the state real estate forms, the "Correcting Real Estate Forms" session was a hit. At 5:30, everyone enjoyed wine, beer and munchies at the vendor reception courtesy of Wisconsin Lawyers Mutual Insurance Company and spent several hours visiting with all of the vendors.
Day 2 starts at 8:30 with Plenary speaker Karin Iwate (E-Myth Worldwide) on " The Key Frustration Process" and then tracks and session start.
